Welcome to 6th grade!
WELCOME to 6th GRADE!
I am excited to begin the 2020-2021 school year with my amazing 6th grade team of teachers and fabulous new 6th graders! Although we will be remote at first, we will learn new things, collaborate, accept challenges, have fun, and work hard! Your teachers are here for you every step of the way, so just reach out if you need help. We got this!
I will be teaching diverse learners in Reading and Math classes, alongside Mrs. Gonzalez and Mr. Crall, and assisting students in meeting their IEP goals. We will be utilizing Google Classroom and Google Meets as our platform for instruction, small groups, and access to materials and assignments, in addition to other on-line programs. All students are expected to attend classes, be prepared, be engaged, participate, and complete all assignments on time.
A little bit about me: This is my 5th year at Locke, and 19th year teaching altogether! I previously taught at St. Monica and Haugan Elementary, and took some time off to raise my four wonderful children in between. I have two boys, ages 22 and 20, and two girls, ages 17 and 11. We have two cats named Piglet & Bigglesworth and two dogs named Buddy & Jax. We have a pretty full and furry house!
Some educational information about me: I earned my Bachelor of Science degree and Elementary teaching certificate from DePaul University. Years later, I earned my Master of Arts degree and Reading Specialist certificate from Northeastern Illinois University, and a few years ago I completed my LBS-1 endorsement in Special Education. I love being a student, so I will be taking more classes soon! I hope to pass on my love of learning to my students this year! Welcome to 6th grade...I know you will do great things!
